Lots of events are coming to the Capital this summer, which Transport for London hopes will inspire more people to take up cycling:
1. The Tour de France
The world's largest annual sporting event is starting in London (Le Grand
Départ), for the first time ever on the weekend of 6-8 July 2007. The race
will see some of the greatest names in cycle racing fighting it out for
the famous Yellow Jersey on the Capital's streets.
It promises to be an exciting few days for everyone with an Opening Ceremony in Trafalgar Square on Friday 6 July, an individual time trial in the heart of central London on Saturday 7 July and Le Grand Départ – Stage 1 of the Tour de France from London to Canterbury on Sunday 8 July.
