GUIDE TO BEING A DIRECTEUR SPORTIF
To coordinate your teams we ask you to nominate one Directeur
Sportif and
one deputy. In the Tour de France the Directeur
Sportif is the team manager.
It is their job to make sure their team progresses well!
The initial role of the Directeur Sportif does
not have to be time consuming, and it may be attractive to an existing Bicycle
User Group coordinator, or anyone else who is enthusiastic about cycling.
Their initial responsibility is to recruit cyclists into the team and to
set up the process by which challenges will be recorded. The role is very
similar to that of ‘Bike Week’ co-ordinators
and so those with prior experience of this may wish to get involved.
The Directeur Sportif will be responsible for the following activities:
- Recruiting team members
- Explaining to their colleagues how the team challenge works
- Registering participating teams and individuals on the Cycle Challenge website
- Being the key contact(s) for receipt of information and materials to distribute to their team members
- Using the Everyday Cycling website to sign your team members to a challenge
- Setting up the team Yellow and White Jersey challenges
- Completing the Challenge Form with your team results
- Co-ordinating the team to take part in the London Freewheel
Take a look at the 'How to Participate'
page to see what advice we have given to potential team members who want
to take part.
